Green and eco-living community festivals are popping up all around the country. They’re a fun way to learn about new sustainable lifestyle ideas, meet people in your community who are passionate about the environment, and maybe even test-drive that electric car you’ve had your eye on.
This weekend, Sept. 14-15, we’re proud to be a sponsor at such an event, Live Green Connecticut! at Taylor Farm Park in Norwalk, Connecticut. Now in its fourth year, the family-friendly festival brings together environmental educators, nonprofits, and businesses to showcase the latest in green technology, recycling, conservation, health and wellness, climate protection, and sustainable living.
As part of our sponsorship, we’ll be helping Live Green collect all of the food waste generated at the event. Instead of going to a landfill, the food will be composted and eventually used to nourish the soil at the community gardens at Norwalk’s historic Fodor Farm.
On Saturday at noon, Sustainable America’s Executive Director Jeremy Kranowitz will be part of a panel discussion about the connection between food and fuel, along with Connecticut State Senator Bob Duff and representatives from Frito-Lay and Connecticut Green Cities.
If you’re in the Connecticut area this weekend, we encourage you to stop by. (We hear there will be some great food there, none of which will go to waste.) Admission is free! Or look for similar events in your area.
