Anyone who has ever worked at a start-up organization or owned a business knows that getting started is difficult. In Sustainable America’s two short years of existence, we’ve worked hard to overcome major hurdles in order to cement our model for making an impact on sustainability.
Thanks to our staff and supporters, our work is paying off. For instance, we’ve managed to impress upon the IRS that investing as a 501c3 non-profit in early-stage sustainability-oriented companies can have a social and environmental benefit to society. We’ve raised awareness about waste reduction on a national stage, at events like the Kentucky Derby and SXSW Eco; we’ve managed to grab the attention of more than 40,000 new friends on Facebook; and we’ve become a voice in the growing dialogue around more sustainable food and fuel solutions.
So we’re excited to bring together our friends and supporters for our Inaugural Gala on June 26 to celebrate our first two years, acknowledge the help we’ve received, and propel our growth into the future. The event will be held at our new office in Stamford, Conn., which features sustainable products and technologies that demonstrate the principles we are passionate about.
We’ve lined up a really unique set of auction items that celebrate the sustainable food and fuel systems we are striving for, and some that are just for fun.
Our sustainability-oriented auction items include a trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, a sustainable cooking workshop on the North Fork of Long Island, and a trip to a rangeland preservation-oriented sustainable cattle operation in Arizona. We’ve also got auction items geared toward fun and unique experiences, including a New York Yankees spring training experience in Tampa, Fla. And just to demonstrate that sustainability can be both red-hot and sustainable, we’re featuring a one-of-a-kind experience made possible by the generosity of our sponsor, Porsche North America.
Online Bids Welcome
Through a partnership with Bidding for Good, Sustainable America will be able to make the auction items available for anyone around the country to bid on online. Bidding will open approximately two weeks before the Gala, on June 12. Check out these items, and more, and good luck with your bids!
Not Into Auctions? That’s OK!
If you just aren’t into auctions, that’s all right! You can still support Sustainable America by making a small, tax-deductible donation – any size is appreciated – here. As always, thank you for your interest and support, and above all, for your commitment to making our country a more Sustainable America.
If you’re interested in attending the gala, email Andy Holtz for details and ticket information.
